Early adjournment in Kartel murder trial

The unavailability of witnesses today, led to the early adjournment of the Vybz Kartel murder trial. At the beginning of this morning’s session, Tom Tavares-Finson the attorney for Vybz Kartel, informed the Judge that the defence team was scheduled to meet with expert witnesses and to conduct an interview with them. He stated that a time, date and meeting place was arranged, however they were told that systems that should have been in place for them to have access to meet these witnesses were down as they waited for over a hour and a half yesterday. Mr. Tavares-Finson also informed the Court, that the DPP was told that no meeting was held and he has requested that the prosecution make available these witnesses available. The Judge then adjourned until 2 pm, to allow for these witnesses to be made available, but following the resumption of the court session these witnesses were still not accessible. The trial was then adjourned until 10 pm tomorrow. Kartel whose real name is Adidja Palmer is charged with members of his Portmore Empire gang Shawn Campbell o/c Shawn Storm, Kiro Jones o/c 'Ray Jones', Shane Williams, and Andre St. John with the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams, who was reportedly killed at a house in Havendale, St. Andrew over missing guns. The body of Williams has not been found.
