Flippa to return to court on May 27

It has been more than six months since his arrest, and entertainer Flippa Moggela can look forward to having his day in court when he returns on May 27.

Flippa, whose real name is Andrew Davis, remains behind bars at a New Jersey prison on the US, on a US$500,000 bond.

The dancehall deejay was arrested by the US, Marshal's Fugitive Task Force in Los Angeles, California, September 16, after police officials declared him the mastermind behind an international drug ring known as Operation Next Day Air. He was later extradited to New Jersey.

According to online reports, his lawyer, Peter Aseltine, said that in order for the men to acquire a trial date they would have to plea guilty to the charges, and explained that the whole process would take some time.

Flippa Moggela faces charges of cocaine distribution, money laundering, leading a drug-trafficking network and conspiracy, along with his brother and seven others.

Known for living a flashy lifestyle on and off stage, Flippa Moggela got his musical breakthrough in 2008 when he released the song, Unfinished House. Some of his other popular hits include Hear mi Hear and Star Ah Star.
