ITY, FANCY CAT LINK UP US RADIO - Comedic duo to have programme in Tri-state area

Though gearing up for season six of their show, Ity and Fancy Cat are also excited about their new radio show on United States-based Link Up Radio 93.5 FM.

The show, 'Double Dose' with Ity and Fancy Cat, began airing last week Tuesday between 7 and 9 p.m. USA time (6 to 8 p.m. Jamaica time) and also airs on Wednesdays.

Speaking with THE STAR yesterday, Ian 'Ity' Ellis boasted that the show is broadcast to more than four million persons in the Tri-state area.

"We did a test run last week and it was a good experience 'cause we are taking things that are popular on TV to radio," Ellis said.

But this is not their first radio show, as between 2007 and 2010 the two had a 30-minute show on Nationwide 90 FM called 'Lunch Time'.

"This is a more extended show that gives us the opportunity to do more. We are going to inject things in there that we couldn't do in a half-hour show," he said.

Having had a very interactive first two episodes with Double Dose, Ellis said it will give them an opportunity to introduce the Ity and Fancy Cat Show to an even wider audience.

"It is going to give us a chance to be in the Tri-state and interact with that audience on a different level. There are other persons that we are reaching that we wouldn't be able to reach ordinarily. We would be extending our brand to that audience," he told THE STAR, noting that the show is recorded in Jamaica and aired in the United States.

He said the new show will also challenge them to reach and interact with a wider audience. In parts, he said they might have to make slight adjustments to their style so that they can be understood by persons outside the Jamaican diaspora.

But Ellis is especially excited about season six of Ity and Fancy Cat Show that is scheduled to begin the last Sunday in May. So far, he said the preparations have been going well and they have a lot of surprises in store for viewers.

He said one of the things that he is most excited about is having persons who have been pranked/spoofed being on the show.

"It is going to be really interesting and funny and we plan to surprise a lot people with the things we have planned," he said.

He said they also plan to invite persons to send funny videos to the show for the chance to get them aired on the show and also win prizes.

"For season six, we want to raise the bar. We want to look at the five seasons and see what works. We want to ensure that this season has key segments that people enjoy," he said, adding that they recently started Comedy Café, that takes place at South Beach Café the last Wednesday in every month.
