Incarcerated Gaza boss Vybz Kartel and deejay Spice copped the male and female deejays of the year awards at the 2013 edition of the Magnum Portmore Dancehall Awards at Club Ntyce, Oaks Plaza, Marine Park, on Saturday.

Kartel, though not physically in the public domain, is still able to make an impact. Spice is the irrefutable queen of dancehall in Portmore and has been a popular figure in the Sunshine City.

Deejays I-Octane and Stylish copped the Culture Artiste and Portmore Ambassador awards, respectively.

Promoter of the year went to Tamara Hollywood and Kelly Upsetter snatched the Cookout of the Year. She also took the Dance of the Year for her birthday bash dubbed: 'Fashion Night Out ... who owns the Runway' held at Club Aphrodisiac.

Nadisha Star was adjudged Swag Queen of the year, while Nelly Flex got the male equivalent. Tamara Hollywood also copped the Theme Dance of the year award with Shoe Swag, while Flava Unit with manager Dave 'Tallman' Scott copped the Best Weekly Party and Sound System of the Year awards.

The show got off to a late start but did not disappoint. It was a night of pure glamour and elegance. Special emphasis was placed on Portmore's lifetime achievers Professor Nuts and Macka Diamond who have contributed to dancehall for many years

The award show is the brainchild of Scott and the Flava Unit family. "This concept has everyone buzzing and patrons will be talking about this event for a very long time," he said.

All awardees were chosen using a voting system courtesy of telecommunications company LIME.
