International dancehall artiste Mavado will be launching a takeover of BET's flagship entertainment show 106 & Park at 6 this evening.

The Caribbean Girl singer was invited by the organisers of the show to play the role of guest judge in a segment called Freestyle Fridays, where two up-and-coming rappers in the US will clash each other.

According to Mavado, the opportunity is an honour.

"It's always an honour to represent my culture and my music on the international stage and 106 & Park is a very popular show, so it helps to bring my brand to a wider audience. My fans are expecting big things of me in 2013 and I intend to deliver," he said.

The Gully Side/We The Best signed artiste will also be interviewed on the show. He will also perform the single On Top Of My Game featuring Brooklyn rapper Papoose. The accompanying video will also be premiered as the New Joint of the Day.

Mavado's manager Julian Jones-Griffiths said, "It's perfect timing for what we are trying to achieve in the mainstream market ... keeping him visual and keeping his brand out there while we put in the studio work is crucial. Mavado has a big fan base and presence in the crossover market, so it's about compounding that and keeping him out there, so when we are ready to give a single the big push, we have a great foundation already in place," he added.

Mavado will also be doing an interview for BET.com's Swag Check, where he will talk about his style and jewellery. The Swag Check interview can be viewed on BET.com today as well.

"I'm just putting in the work right now, mi a tun it up from yard to abroad ... I've been in Jamaica recording a lot of singles that have hit the airwaves fast such as Million Dollar Man, March Out, Can't Happen and Mr Tek Way Yuh Gyal. I'll be getting back in the studio next week with Khaled and the Cash Money family working on more singles and collabs, so I have a lot in the pipeline. I'll also be doing some more work with Dave Kelly which I know will shake the world when we drop those songs," Mavado said.

In addition to pushing the dancehall envelope through the international media, Mavado will also be performing at the NBA All-Star Weekend event in mid-February. He is expected to perform at shows in Poughkeepsie, Albany, New York and Orlando.

Mavado recently shot the video in Jamaica for his UK number-one single Take It featuring Karian Sang.
