INTERNATIONAL recording artiste Sean Kingston is again in hot water.

Having been slapped with a charge of "careless operation [of a vehicle] in a [near-death boat] accident" last year, Kingston was served with a civil summons and complaint on Friday arising with an alleged incident which took place two years ago.

According to RadarOnline.com, Sean Kingston — whose real name is Kisean Anderson — was alleged to be involved in the gang attack of a woman which occurred after a concert in 2010.

According to the website, the 22-year-old singer and one of his bodyguards were served by a California private investigator as they arrived in Los Angeles on a flight from Miami. No further details of the case was given.

The Miami-born singer is currently the touring mate to American teen heartthrob Justin Bieber.

The reggae/pop sensation made headlines when he was involved in a jet skiing accident in Miami Beach, Florida last year.

He and a female passenger were severely injured when their jet ski accidental struck the bridge connecting Palm Island with the MacArthur Causeway. He was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, where he was placed in the intensive care unit and listed in stable condition.

He was subsequently fined US$180.

Growing up in Jamaica since he was age six, Sean Kingston is the grandson of the late legendary Jamaican producer Jack Ruby (real name Lawrence Lindo).

Jack Ruby is the producer of the 1970s landmark reggae album Marcus Garvey by roots singer Burning Spear. That set included hard-hitting songs like the title track, Slavery Days, Jordan River and Tradition. Ruby, who also operated a sound system Jack Ruby Hi Fi, was posthumously honoured at last month's Jamaica Reggae Industry Association's (JARIA) awards ceremony at Emancipation Park for his contribution to Jamaican music.

In 2007, Kingston gained international prominence with Beautiful Girls. The song reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks and topped the UK Singles Chart along with many other international charts. He has had moderate success with other hit songs such as Take You There and 2009's Fire Burning.
