It was probably the most tense, nail-biting moment of The Voice thus far as fans of Tessanne Chin anxiously waited for her to be named among the top eight of the competition.

The appearance of sprint legend Usain Bolt on the American talent show the night before to offer his support to Chin could not have come at a better time.

With three contestants already announced, fans waited with bated breath as host Carson Daly announced that the next person going through would be from Team Adam. They were left disappointed as Will Champlin's name was announced.

But the disappointment was short-lived as Tessanne's name was announced shortly after.

Earlier in the night, her coach Adam Levine stated that his team, which consists of Chin, Will Champlin and James Wolpert, has given solid, incredible performances thus far.

"If I had to be critical, I would say that they still have their best to show. Their best performances are yet to come," he said.

"Yes, Tessanne is safe. I can breathe again" and "The Voice knows the franchise is much better off having Tessanne," were just some of the tweets which dominated social media.

After being saved, Tessanne performed a rendition of Lorde's Royals with contestant Caroline Pennell.

Contestants rounding out the top eight were James Wolpert, Will Champlin from Team Adam, Matthew Schuler and Jacquie Lee from Team Christina Aguilera, Caroline Pennell from Team Cee-Lo and Ray Boudreaux and Cole Vosbury from Team Blake Shelton.
